Jay Thomas @ The Cellar

Hey all-
Just a quick note about the Jay Thomas gig coming up at the Cellar. As many of you know, Jay is amazing. When you see him perform, it really is something to see. He will play the melody of the tune on his flugelhorn and then play a few choruses on his tenor sax. He then picks up his soprano and plays the "head out", as it were. His voice is lyrical and deeply rooted in the blues. He is a cornerstone of the jazz scene in Seattle and he is very busy in Japan every year. This is a performance not to be missed at the Cellar. Many thanks to Cory Weeds in helping make this dream a reality and to Miles Black, Steve Holy, Tom Wherret and Richard Graham who will be performing that night with Jay. A special thank you to my wife Noriko for bringing the news of this concert to the Japanese community in Vancouver. This concert is dedicated to Tom Siddall, Vancouver's greatest Jazz fan.........
Hope to see you all there on September 25th. Don't miss it!!

Many thanks!

many thanks to Steve Holy, Miles Black, Richard Graham, Cory Weeds and of course Jay Thomas for a great night at the Cellar. I would also like to thank Noriko and Yoshiko for helping us fill the Cellar for both sets on a Thursday night!!
Jay played his tail off!! His tenor playing swings and his tone is rich and controlled. He would play one tune on his tenor and then switch to flugel horn and let it rip!! It was an amazing experience playing beside Jay all night and the experience will be hard to forget. Many thanks to all that came to the Cellar to support the night. Also, Tom Siddall made it to the performance with the aid of his nephew, Jay Siddall. It was so good to see Tom again, back at his second home, right up in front row at the Cellar. Tom took about 30 photos and we were all so happy to see him there. Many thanks to Jay Siddall for bring Tom to the Cellar!!
Looking forward to part two of the Jay Thomas Quintet!!
