CanWest launches jazz record label

Quote:
CanWest Global Communications Corp. announced the launch of a new international record label, COOL Records, specializing in new and established jazz.

The label will be led by Ross Porter, a fixture of the Canadian jazz scene, who is vice-president of programming for COOL FM radio in Winnipeg and COOL TV, a soon-to-be launched specialty channel.

"There is a deep vein of talented jazz musicians in Canada that has yet to be fully mined," said Porter.

"COOL Records will also collaborate with established jazz labels to develop and market compilation recordings from their extensive libraries."
