Robbie King
Just came across a five or six part documentary of Robbie King just talking and playing the B3. Go to part one, you'll find the rest from there.
Robbie King was one of our best, and best loved musicians. A Hammond B3 player who mostly played blues and R&B. He died in 2003. |

Thanks Brian. I worked with Robbie a fair bit, he was a great guy and knew a huge amount about all kinds of music. I remember driving him back to the Yale from White Rock after a gig and we just listed to Majong from Wayne Shorter Juju on repeat.

Holy cow! Thank you Brian, for finding these.
It's so amazing to see Robbie so present and alive in these videos, just as I remember him. His way of speaking and playing, of being in the world. When he uncorked those gospel chops I swear, the motherfucker could make a Christian out of Anton Zandor LeVay. "It comes from gospel music...music is a healing thing" Amen, brother King. |
