To British Columbia 'based' Musicians.
Please feel free to forward this to your lists of musician friends who are in the midst of trying to book a tour for the summer of 2008. My friend Alfredo Caxaj who happens to be the Artistic Director of Canada's premier golbal arts festival 'Sunfest', based in London Ontario, has advised me he will be applying to Canada Council for a festival program grant. Last year Alfredo was able to get support from them for the Jazz component in order to present Quebec Jazz artists, which included Marianne Trudel and Christine Jensen. I humbly admit to having a minor supporting role in making this happen. For the coming festival, I have been asked to step in to assist with a similar kind of project, with the theme "JAZZ FROM British Columbia", which, will obviously will feature Jazz artists from our Province. As a friend of Alfredo's and of the British Columbia Jazz Community, I have offered to help Alfredo and 'Sunfest' by contacting all of you to connect your group(s), if touring in July 2008, to contact Alfredo immediately via email. Hi address is acaxaj@hotmail.com I know how difficult it can be for BC-based groups to if there is not financial support for it, however, I believe there might be several ways of doing this. For those who are touring and are applying for CC touring grants with looming deadlines (Dec 1, 2007??), I hope you will consider adding Sunfest to your potential itinerary. The festival runs (I think) the weekend of July 3,4,5, and 6 but you can confirm that with Alfredo himself. I hope this is of help to some of your amazing humanoids out there who have committeed to making the world a better place through music! PS..don't shoot the messenger.... Sincerely, Jeremy Price flutes etc www.myspace.com/flotenmeister |
