A-Trane June 2010
Busy day on the A-Trane tomorrow, Invitations will be in the air and not only film standards but a jazz film too!
Around 3:30 I'll be interviewing Lars Larson - one of the co-directors of the film Icons Among Us: Jazz in the Present Tense which has a special screening at the VanCity Theatre on Saturday June 19th at 7:30 PM (see http://www.viff.org/tixSYS/vifcguide...ntNumber=1801& for more details). I'll also have a couple of pairs of tickets to the screening to give away. The great trumpeter and composer Bill Dixon passed away this week so we'll hear some of his performances and compositions. Once you add in the jazz festival picks and previews and a few new releases, the 3 hours will be gone in no time! A last note - playlists will return soon; in the interim a fledgling audio-archive of past A-Trane shows is available at http://beta.coopradio.org/station/archives/54 and a new A-Trane Facebook page is currently under construction.
