Mike Stern and Alain Caron

Did anyone catch this show??

Wow, I've been to a lot of shows and this one took the cake. I went expecting the usual from Alain Caron, but the guys on drums (Lionel Cordew) stole the show.

Just thought it deserved honorable mention on a board where fusion is highly under appreciated .

I must agree.

as for the show...

Wow, the 16th notes where flying by at an alarming speed.

The drummer was nice, but how about Mike Stern's solo guitar bit? that was quite somthing.

The best part of the show was Alain Caron's bass solo during the first song, and I had a hard time really enjoying myself as I was waiting for another one.

An excellent performance, indeed. Those 4 guys were tight! Bob Franceschini was excellent. Alain did a fantasic job of laying that groove down. Lionel Cordew.... what can I say? Just an amazing show. I went expecting to hear some powerful "fusion". I was not disappointed.

Nimish - That bass solo was amazing. But it was exceedingly nice when Mike let Caron go at the end. That solo was mind blowing. Probably the best stuff I've ever heard live.

About Cordew, the solo's he played established him as a 'linear God' as far as I'm concerned. He's joined the like's of Dave Garibaldi and Dennis Chambers in my book.

I was extremely pleased. Except for the moron in the Third Row, Stage left, who was moronically yelling the whole night. But hey, I was in a good mood. I had front row seats right in front of Alain. And, even though I'm a drummer, I was there for Stern and Caron. Cordew was just icing..

actually, just another layer to the cake.

Live recording

Before Mike Stern et al came on, the MC mentioned that the show would be recorded, and that the recording would be available on the internet at some time.. did I hear him correctly? Or did he just mean that it would be played back on the radio at some point?

Thanks,
Allan
