Jodi filled the Cellar with people and serious swing last night with her well prepared and fabulous tribute to Ray Brown. With Tilden Webb, Mike Rud, and Torontonian Joel Haines it was boppin good fun.
"For me, what would I like"? To see that band again!
Thanks Jodi, band, and the Cellar for a great night!!

Indeed! Great night and it was nice see such a turn out on a Wednesday Night. I have a feeling most of the people there didn't just stumble in.
Except there was one guy at the back of the club that kept on hollering at the band during the solos. I heard someone at the bar call him muffincrusher! I wonder who he was.....

hi all... I'm at the Banff Centre right now, so i can't do this too often, but when i saw the post on Jodi i thought i'd chime in. Jodi is a total badass. I recently had the immense pleasure of playing with her for the first time a few weeks ago and she is just an amazing bassist and person. She has THE swing feel... I mean the one that all drummers are looking for. I'm sure it was a great night, i wish i could have been there.... but hey! I'm hanging with dave douglas and i played a gig with Mark Turner this week! Mike Murley and Brad and Dylan and Peggy are here too. It's a seriously fun hang and a lot of great musicians from all over the world are here. See you all in a few weeks... don't forget, I'm playing at the Cellar on the 12th of June with pianist Gordon Webster from Toronto, Alvin Cornista on sax and Sean Cronin on bass.... there may possibly be a very special guest from Toronto as well. Cheers.
