When Larry Appelbaum was here covering the jazz festival for JazzTimes, we had a nice chat about his work at the Library of Congress in D.C. where he's based. (Including his current work going through vaults of original song registrations with leadsheets in the original envelopes over the last century!)

The first batch of photos that went up on flickr yesterday were selected by Gottlieb for his book The Golden Age of Jazz, now out of print. and of course certain images have been used over the years for record or cd covers. we're going to upload approx 100 images every two weeks on flicker until the entire collection is there.



Pretty incredible material, gorgeous shots though and many are so wonderfully informal; seeing these wonderful folks relaxing with friends, thanks to Larry for sharing them.
