I'm back! But should I pack up my Jamiesons and go home with him or should I stay and visit with you-all a while? Hmmm. Tuff questions.

Huffy female waitresses bearing Dark_Coffee and history don't like being rudely deleted:D :D ;)

That's ok. I can take it :D

Talk soon...Carman xxoo ;-p

Thank God! You're back. We were afraid we'd lost you for good.

I've worked in nightclubs my whole life, and the most important lesson I've learned is...DON'T PISS OFF THE STAFF!

(And ALWAYS tip your waitress)

Gee John. You make feel so....so...wanted:D Another waitress used to wear a little note on her arm saying, "Tipping is NOT a City in China".

Did I serve you? Did you tip me? C

rudely deleted Welcome back, Carman. As explained elsewhere (http://vancouverjazz.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=358), we lost a whole whack of topics about a week ago.

Dear Carmen,

Yes you did serve me. And you're damn right I tipped you.

Here's a Dohenyism." Don't waste your time on the owner. It's better to be friends with the bartender".

Hmmm! Gee John. Just how friendly was I? Or you?
I don't remember. I really must have tipped that bottle for you! and me!!! :D

I can't believe I started working at the Joint in 1978!!!! and continued off and on almost til the very end (I forget what year that was too):D The bestest times were when I started and for a few years, then the whole energy changed as people started moving upward and onward.

Guess you're one of the ones who moved "Upward"... I looked at your website. You've been busy! :-)

Take Care...C

GasTown just ain't the same without the Classical Joint... :(

Chris,
I'm in enough trouble with Cory over that "Lemonhead" remark already. Don't you go making it worse ( although your prompt and gracious service last monday at VCC Student Ensembles Night just re-inforces my point).

Hi All.

I often wonder whatever became of some Jazz folks from the old JOINT days from 1978 thru 1989 (about when it shut down)

Dick Smith and Vickie?
Gavin Walker?
and soooooooooo many others ... all of them!

and of course....my favorites ANDREAS who owned and ran the JOINT (I know about his History of the World) and of course.........

THE DANCING-SERVING GREAT WAITRESSES!

:D

I was at UBC with Dick Smith around 1996-97. Dick took over the 1st Tenor chair from me in Fred Strides band, and we were also in a 20th century music class together. We had quite a few laughs as the "old farts" in the class ( we were both considerably older than the prof, David Metzger). Dick dropped out the next year and I lost track of him. I know Colin Lazzerini is in touch with him, in fact Colin tells me they've written a musical together called " A Classical Joint". You're probably in it. Any suggestions about who should play you if it opens on Broadway?

As for Gavin, surely you're aware of his show on Mon. nights on CITR. I've talked to him recently and he's recovering nicely from his minor heart attack. He left a message on my machine the other day asking if I'd be playing a baloney alto or a baloney tenor at the Cellar March 27th ( see thread in "General Discussions" entitled "Idea For John" and also the thread "Alex Varty's April Fool Column" for the full "baloneyphone" scoop).

Don't know about the other too, but I bet someone here does.
