I just got a CD by Uri Caine called Urlicht/Primal Light. It's the music of Mahler played by a chamber ensemble including Dave Douglas, Don Byron, Mark Feldman etc. They tackle parts of Symph 1/2/5 plus music from the Songs of the Death of Children, Songs of the Warfarer etc. It's deffintally not your run of the mill jazz release and I was wondering if anyone had checked this album out, or had any opinions on other works by Uri Caine.

Cheers

Haven't heard that recording but I have "Bedrock" (his nod to "Thrust" and my favorite by him), "Blue Wail" (more traditional) and "The Sidewalks of New York" (music from the turn of the 20th Century). Love 'em all!

Spread the word to people who are looking for something a little adventurous.
