One of the world's bass legends (and my personal hero), Israel Lopez Cachao has passed away at the age of 89, after a professional career that lasted 8 decades. He was still playing beautifully up to the end...
Rest in Peace, Maestro. I owe you so much.
Love,
Allan

"Ahora Si" - you may recognize actor Andy Garcia playing bongo. He was Cachao's biggest promoter in his later years, and did much to revitalize his career with the excellent documentary "Como Mi Ritmo No Hay Dos" (Like my rhythm there is no other)
