A new group featuring Phil Dwyer, Bernie Arai, and Andre Lachance, the Food For Thought trio will be appearing in Kamloops on Friday, at the Leisure Loft(at Turner Music Studio) and on Saturday in Enderby at Lorenzo's. Playing original music as well as tunes by Ornette Coleman, Dave Holland, A.C Jobim and Coldplay. Kamloops @ 7:30 and Enderby is an 8 pm start. We are spreading the word of polytonal improvisation and the importance of supporting and sustaining local food production and preserving agricultural lands.....but mostly polytonal improvisation. We just did a couple of really fun gigs on the island.

Phil, that sounds like a fun group with diverse material. An excellent cause, local food is very important to our health and economy. I'm in courtenay and we've been eating almost exclusively locally produced food from the local "farmers market", that's a great Art Farmer blues...

Okay here's food for thought
Little Creek Salad Dressing - available in most larger B.C. grocery stores. It's made by Donna Dennison on the family farm (Little Creek Gardens) located on Westside road across the lake from Kelowna. Donna's husband Dale is an organic farmer and he supplies the ingredients for the salad dressing - everything is grown locally and they've been good friends of mine for over 30 years.
It's terrific salad dressing and I urge anyone interested to check it out, it's all we ever buy.

This winter the Globe and Mail listed must buy, best buy products in Canada. Little Creek Salad Dressing was one of the twenty some items listed. How great it is to see people who dig in, work hard and have high standards receive this kind of recognition.

Thanks for the tip Campbell. It's amazing if you can do even a little research, ask a few questions etc, that there is so much great stuff available that is grown or produced by people within or near our own communities. We buy all of our meat from local producers, preserve fruit/berries/fish while they are at their peak, and whatever else we can do to encourage local producers to keep at it. I know that I would rather support Cam's friends than Kraft foods, plus the bottom line is that you are going to get way better and healthier food to put in to your bodies. Think about that the next time a real estate developer wants to take a few hundred acres out of the Agricultural Land Reserve in the Fraser Valley. By the way Cam, I had some excellent perogies in Enderby, I thought of you.

For that you might want to book your trio around the Grand Forks - Christina Lake area. Either that or Alisha's in Winnipeg!

Hey, Phil...thank me for the Perogies......remember, I was the one who told Bernie the food was good at Des Amies in Enderby!

If this project comes to Nanaimo, I'll be there for sure.
