The recent double CD release from New Orchestra Records: "First and Last" by the New Orchestra Quintet features recordings made in 1978 and 1979 at PSI Chord Studios and live concerts from the UBC Music Building, the Western Front and Soft Rock Cafe.

The Quintet fetaures Paul Cram-reeds, Ralph Eppel-brass, Paul Plimley-piano, Lisle Ellis-bass and Gregg Simpson-drums.

It will be previewed on the Gregg Simpson Jazz Hour on www.artisanradio.com Tuesday at 10am and 5pm.

You can order it from www.greggsimpson.com/CDOrdering and eventually we'll have copies at Neptoon Records on Main St., one of the last retail stores selling locally made jazz recordings.

The underwhelming response to my radio show has led me to decide to stop posting any more about it. The show, however, will continue, even without any listeners.

One in a thousand will respond. If you've had no response that means you only have 999 listeners.

I'm glad to hear that Ralph Eppel is still active. I haven't seen him for several years. Say hi to him for me if you see him.
