Just heard some great news from a Cellar e-mail. Metalwood has inked their deal with Verve! It's great news for Canadian jazz and great news for Vancouver jazz to have such a great group on a major, major jazz label. Congrats to Chris and Brad for hooking that up, and I can't WAIT for the show at the Cellar in January! Metalwood at the Cellar???!!! Wicked! Anybody catch their show at Cap last year? Amazing, and to see them in a place as small as the Cellar should be insane! They're gonna tear the roof off that place! Metalwood is a group that stays in constant rotation at my house, I've been listening lately to (of course) the "Live" album, recorded at the Chameleon here in Vancouver a few years ago. If anybody out there has not yet heard this album, get thee to a record store and purchase hence! 'Tis a tome worthy of many a listen! I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this great group, and I'd especially like to hear from someone who was there the night they recorded that "Live" album. Bye for now....

Man I had no idea they were playing at the cellar. Can't wait for that. Anybody taking reservations yet? I don't want to get screwed out of this like i almost got screwed out of seeing brad and seamus. MW is also playing at Cap again in april to my knowledge, so i'm gonna have to catch this one. I missed the last one. now i know better than to play a cheap gig on the same night as a metalwood concert. And congrats to the guys for the deal with verve, thats wicked man.

Hi Everyone,
I want to thank everyone for their great support over the years for this band. Brad and I are very excited about the new deal and the unlimited possibilities it may hold for a Canadian jazz group!
Just thought I would let another cat out of the bag... John Scofield is playing on the new record to be recorded in January after the Cellar shows! We are very excited about that!
Take care,
Chris Tarry

Sco had a pretty good warmup for this on his A Go Go album with Medeski, Martin, and Wood, but this one with Metalwood should REALLY rock!! :-)
