Didn't see any mention of this here:

"Burt Goldblatt, a prolific designer of moody jazz LP album covers for artists like Herbie Mann, Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae and Charles Mingus, died on Aug. 30 in Boston. He was 82."

He must have done thousands of covers besides his photography, the obit below states he did 200 in 1955 alone.

A great loss. Burt Goldblatt was one of those artists whose work helped define the "look" of jazz of the fifties and later.

A tribute by Angelynn Grant, which includes just a few examples of his work is here (http://coffeetime.blogspot.com/2006/09/burt-goldblatt-great-artist-passes-on.html).

A few more covers here (http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/8599/goldblatt.html).

And my own personal Goldblatt anecdote, featuring his great photo of Bird, is here (http://boppin.com/2005/06/bird-saved-my-life.html).
