Dave Sikula is burning

Just had the immense pleasure last night of checking out Mike Z's quartet with Dave Sikula on guitar. Having had the pleasure on a couple of occasions of playing with Dave, I knew he was amazing, but last night he pulled some stuff out that just floored me. What an amazing musician. Everyone who has not heard this guy should check him out, because he's taking his playing to another level, and plays in a totally unique way-- very beautiful.

I had the pleasure of going to Cap College many years ago and meeting Dave. He always struck me as someone who worked hard and studied hard. I didn't really hear him play much until I joined People Playing Music and then Dave and I toured all over the world together. He never ceased to amaze me. He is a fabulous musician and has huge ears and just happens to play the guitar exactly the way I like. I don't get to play with him much any more but I always look forward to any chance that I get;

Yeah Weeds, Sikula is magic. I remember him as one of the guys who was really kind to this young kid who was new to Cap College, willing to play with whoever, and the few times I've gotten to play with him, including with Mike's band have been really special. But that gig at the Sug a few weeks ago.... MAN! He was on FIRE... he's been taking his vitamins or something....
